Chris and Tanya met at the University of Portland as undergraduates. Now, almost 6 years later,
they have decided to get married and share this joyful occasion with their friends and family.
Chris and Tanya are both graduate students at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Chris is pursuing his PhD in Computer Science, while Tanya is getting her Masters in Computer Science. Both are working hard to finish their degrees in the next year or two. In addition to being students, Tanya works for the National Center for Supercomputing Applications and Chris is a Research Assistant for Dr. Vikram Adve. |

Chris was born in Sparks, Nevada but spent virtually all of his childhood in Oregon. His family currently lives in Banks, OR. Tanya was born in Bellingham,WA and half her family is in Washington, while the rest reside in Germany. |

 | Chris proposed to Tanya on July 9, 2003 in Røst, Norway. They happened to be in Norway traveling with 10 of their closest friends. Røst is well above the artic circle and in the summer the sun is up 24 hours a day. The picture you see to your left is the view that Tanya was looking at before Chris proposed. The time of day was around 11:30 pm and although the picture is a bit dark, you can tell the sun is still up. It was a perfect place to propose and Tanya was very surprised.

Røst is Norway's smallest kommune ("county"), with a population of 650 people and about 2 million puffins and other nesting birds. It is a group of small islands on the southern edge of Lofoten, situated 65 miles from the mainland and 15 miles from the nearest populated island. The main sources of income for the islands' inhabitants is fishing and tourism. Most of the people live on the main island, Røstlandet, where the tallest point reaches a staggering 11m (36ft) above sea level.
